Nicole Richie was born on September 21, 1981, and is a socialite, actress, singer and author, with a famous father (she is the adopted daughter of singer Lionel Richie). She is perhaps best known for the role in the reality show The Simple Life, in which she starred with Paris Hilton. Richie's godfathers are celebrities, too: music-industry legends Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones.

She has studied he guitar, cello, piano, violin and figure skating, and attended University of Arizona where she studied Arts and Media for two years.

Richie reached stardom when she and heiress Paris Hilton first starred in the reality series The Simple Life in which they lived for a month with a family in Altus, Arkansas. The show's second season saw the girls travelling around in a pink pick-up truck and living in a trailer. Season three saw the girls working as interns in a variety of industries as they travelled the east coast on a bus.

Ritchie made her movie acting debut in 2005 when she played cheerleader Kelly Stepford in the film, Kids in America. She has also appeared in several television shows including MADtv, 8 Simple Rules, Six Feet Under and American Dreams. She has appeared in her father's music video for "I Call It Love."
