KanYe West

American heartthrob Kanye Omari West was born in Atlanta, Georgia on June 8, 1977. A celebrated record producer and rapper West has given several hit albums including the College Dropout and Late Registration. He is also a proud owner of a record label a GOOD Music.

Kayne was brought up in Chicago, where his mother Dr. Donda West was a chair of the English Department at Chicago State University, after his parents divorce. After retirement, she serves as Kanye's manager. Kayne attended Columbia College Chicago, however dropped out early to get on with a career in music. He produced a number of hit singles for major hip hop/R&B artists, including Jay-Z, Eminem, Janet Jackson, Lupe Fiasco, The Game, Alicia Keys, Common and John Legend.

Typically, West's style of production associated pitched-up vocal samples that were normally from soul songs, using his own instruments and drums. His original song using vocal samples was a track from Jay-Z's The Dynasty: Roc La Familia "This Can't Be Life". His music was greatly acclaimed in Jay-Z's critically approved album The Blueprint, released on September 11, 2001.

West's claim to fame was release of his second album Late Registration on 30 August 2005. The reviews in Spin September 2005, suggested Late Registration was his indisputable triumph, somewhat comparable to West's ego. Created out of the help of producer samples, the compositions was a perfect blend of strings and other sounds.

The record held the top spot on the Village Voice's Pazz & Jop critic’s poll of 2005. Especially, the two singles at the beginning in Late Registration – "Diamonds from Sierra Leone" and "Gold Digger" sold 860000 copies in its first week. The album was nominated for eight Grammy Award including Album of the Year and Record of the Year for the song "Gold Digger". In 2006, West won several Grammy awards along with the Best Rap Album. However, failed to receive the Album of the Year Award, which he felt was a consequence of some irresponsible comments.

Later in the year, his "Touch the Sky" failed to achieve the Best Video at the MTV Europe Music Awards. West was found on stage arguing for his claim on the award. However, he apologized for the outburst publicly in a performance supporting U2 for their Vertigo concert in Brisbane, Australia.

Lately in 2007, West has announced that he would be starring in a series directed by Larry Charles. Further, West seems to be concentrating on his other side, returning as fashion columnist on lifestyle magazine Complex, after two years.
